Factories

The Group operates from two factory sites, at Dundee and Dewsbury.

The Dundee factory manufactures sheet metal ducting, fireduct, components for ductwork, aluminium underfloor heating panels, Acoustic products and a wide range of bespoke products through our Industrial Maintenance & Support Services (IMSS)division.

The factory at Dewsbury produces both Acoustic and ducting products.

Production Methods

Ductwork products are made to order to the design specification of the customer. Sheetmetal ductwork is formed from coil galvanised sheet steel. Straight duct is cut to length, folded and joined. Fittings (including bends and offsets) are formed from flat sheet on a plasma cutter, then each part is formed on a spiral coil line and fittings are machine made and joined mechanically. All ductwork and fittings are manufactured directly from the CAD/CAM computer programmes based on construction sites or in the two factory offices. For fire rated ductwork, an intumescent coating is sprayed over the completed sections of duct by means of an airless spray pump. The Ductmate slide-on flanges are generally made in advance for stock. The flange is formed from a coil of steel running through a rollforming production line, sealant is injected into the flange before it is “cut and bundled” for stock.

The key material for ducting / Ductmate products is coil steel. The steel is supplied on a “just in time” basis and the Group has a policy of maintaining a number of suppliers and ensures it has a competitive purchasing policy by constantly reviewing suppliers and seeking high quality supplies at the best price. There are several steel distributors who supply the Group.
